Villa Shanthi is exactly as described. It is extremely clean and our rooms were adjoining and both had air conditioning. Beds and pillows were super comfy. The food is amazing... read more with a fabulous choice and chef is fabulous. He has worked all over the world! Verena and her manager are happy to arrange tuk tuks, taxis and tours and we felt really safe with the drivers. Security is great at the villa too.
The only negative is that I don't feel the owner and myself were a good fit and I felt anxious at times with some of the regimented ways and questioning and didn't fully relax at the accommodation. More

We stayed at Villa Shanthi just 2 nights of our 6 week trip around SriLanka in 2018, it was so good we just had to come back.
We stayed for... read more 3 weeks in January 2019 and it was perfect from start to finish. The pick up from the airport arranged by Villa Shanthi made the start so easy, on arrival all the staff was there to greet us and make us so welcome. The small group of well trained staff made sure our stay was delightful, everything about the villa is luxury and comfort, with beautiful swimming pool and gardens making this place so tranquil and relaxing.Their chef is highly skilled for local or international tastes and come highly recomended but if you prefer to eat out the town and beach is a short 10mins walk away. Sightseeing trips can be arranged by manager to ensure your stay in SriLanka has maximum impact, very professional and good value for money.
I would recommend Villa Shanthi to anyone looking for tranquil luxury near the heart of the town of Hikkaduwa and close to Galle, either for the whole vacation or a stop off to ‘recharge’ during a tour.

The WiFi in the bedroom worked faintly but good in other main areas of the guesthouse, aircon was optional depending on which room you have as not all have it, there was no TV but you didn’t need it as surroundings was beautiful plus lots to do in the local area so no need to spend much time in your room.

The rooms are large & spacious but they would of been better if they had black out curtains and/or blinds as it was very bright & didn’t feel private.
Overall:
We would recommend this place highly & stay there again, the only thing is when booking the villa it is actually a guesthouse where you should hire this on a per room basis rather than the whole villa as the host lives on site so it could feel slightly intrusive at times. More

We booked out the whole villa for 4 children and 6 adults for a family and friends group.
Ms Verena contacted us straight away- was so helpful. We did... read more a bank transfer in advance and paid cash for expenses while we were there- it was great value and it was not hard like the other review implies.
The accomodation is excellent- mosquito nets over all beds. Comfy beds. Spacious rooms. All cleaned regularly by friendly staff.
The pool and gardens are great and our children were safe and happy to run around.
The food was exceptional! We all put on weight.
All the staff were friendly and looked after us and our children so well.
Mr Duminda organised airport transfers and car seats for kids. He also went the extra mile and helped book us tours for other parts of our travels in the country.
We all loved spending time here and will be booking a stay here again!
Thank you and namaste

Breakfast on the terrace with the wonderful homemade jams is certainly the way to start the day. Nothing is to much trouble for Verena & the always smiling staff. We would definitely recommend this wonderful place.

Everything about our stay at Villa Shanthi was perfect; accommodation, cleanliness, food, pool etc... Trips were arranged via Verena and her manager 'which were of good quality and reasonably priced'.... read more The Villa is surrounded by lots of lovely country lane type walks. The beach & town are approximately a ten minute walk away 'the Tuk,Tuk option was approx.100 Rupee's one way'. Yoga classes at the Villa were available where required.... Verena and her staff made sure our stay was perfect in every aspect. We were pampered from day one until our departure.... 100% recommend
Villa Shanthi is an ideal place for peacefull and relaxing vacation. We arrived in villa in the mid of March, 2018. Everything - garden, pool and rooms are... read more very nice and clean. Moreover, Mrs. Verena and her staff made our stay very comfortable and pleasant, for ex. - our "wishes came true" - Duminda has arranged the fishing with local fisherman, the cook specially for us has prepared the Coral fish (it was so delicious). Actually, all food at Villa was very tasty and fresh.
We booked a double deluxe room at Villa Shanthi for 3 nights of our stay at Hikkaduwa. The description on agoda and booking.com mentioned that it is an AC room... read more but on reaching we found that it was a basic non AC room. In fact the entire place has only 2 AC rooms. On questioning, we were given some random thing about how their deluxe rooms come without AC and they are optimized for natural ventilation. They refused to upgrade us to an AC room saying it was occupied. The room we had did not even have a window but two doors for some reason. There was one fan and given the tropical heat of Hikkaduwa it got really hot at night and we struggled to sleep. We couldn't keep the door open due to security concerns and mosquitoes. The bathroom in the room had poor drainage and after every bath we had to call the housekeeping staff to mop the water otherwise the water will flow into the room. The only good thing was the warm and friendly staff at the place. Villa Shanthi positions itself as some sort of luxurious place but it is hardly anything luxury its a below average home stay, there are much better options available at Hikkaduwa. It was highly disappointing that the authorities did not stay true to the information mentioned on the booking websites.
We arrived at Villa Shanthi on 12 December 2017 for a 4 night stay. Verena made us extremely welcome and we couldn't fault the way she and Sam looked... read more after us throughout our visit. The accommodation is first class, the food amazing, the staff friendly and the service and attention to detail excellent. The gardens and pool are so tranquil and are frequented by an array of beautiful birds, butterflies and monkeys. Villa Shanthi was the perfect place to end our visit to Sri Lanka and we will definitely return one day!
The villa is really pretty and in good order throughout as are the rooms.
We got frustrated with a couple of issues, firstly they don't take credit card... read more which is annoying when you are travelling on a travel card with a monthly cash limit. Having to pay cash for a 5 night stay at full price required multiple visits to an ATM.
Secondly, towards the end of our stay we were trying to make some really important bookings only to discover that the Internet had stopped working. When we asked why the owner blamed us for using up the monthly data allowance. We found this particularly irritating as the Internet stopped working every evening at 9pm approx and we had hardly used it at all.
I found these two issues irritating and the general vibe not that relaxing
From the moment we arrived greeted with fresh watermelon juice on the step, we found Villa Shanthi was a perfect retreat for us. It is such a tranquil area 5... read more mins away from the hustle and bustle of the seafront and amenities if required. But my family of four spent a lot of time in this newly built villa which has been fitted to high spec in all areas. The swimming pool is beautifully situated in the lush garden which is regularly visited by monkeys bats and bird life. All these areas are cleaned daily. Whilst the facilities and surroundings are fantastic this place has seriously good service with Verena and Sam happy to help with every need to make your stay great from arranging your days activities to changing the menu to suit your desires. Verena also invited all four us each morning to a yoga hour that was good for us and good for the kids. Thank u so much ! Beyond this the food was excellent with all meals tasty wether Sri Lankan or western for the kids. There was freshly made noodles, home made mango jam and if they couldn't make it themselves everything else freshly bought that day. It's got all the things you could possibly need. Fridge and safe in room, fans and air con of course and I could go on and on such is the level of detail put into every area of the Villa. Top tip when coming to Sri Lanka. Stay here !
We had a great time in this villa. We rented out the entire villa for the stay as we were 10 of us. Ideal for meditation and relaxation. It is... read more away from the crowded area yet close to the beach. The rooms were clean and spacious. The staff had arranged the bbq machine as per our request. The pool makes this property the ideal villa in Hikkaduwa.
I would recommend the owner to conduct yoga retreats as this place suites.
